French firm Ingredia is aiming to tap into the growing € 4.5 billion sports nutrition market with its Prodiet bar 30 high-protein ingredient and Be Fit high-protein bar.

Speaking ahead of this year’s Health Ingredients Europe exhibition, the firm said that Prodiet bar 30 contains a blend of high quality native whey proteins and native micellar caseins that offer strong nutritional and taste qualities. The proteins are separated from fresh milk through a non-denaturing process and thus keep their nutritional properties and bioavailability, say Ingredia.

According to Ingredia, the process allows formulators of high-protein nutrition bars to raise the protein content of their products by up to 30% with a preserved softness.

Meanwhile, the firm will be showcasing it Be Fit nutrition bar at Health Ingredients Europe next month.

Containing 30% protein, Ingredia say that the product is adapted to those who want to nurture their overall wellness through both sports and nutrition. The bar is also suitable for weight loss/management thanks to the positive effect of native micellar caseins on satiety.

The firm said that the sports nutrition market is perfectly primed for growth as the use of muscle-building products becomes increasingly mainstream.

The market is expected to grow steadily over the next four years and reach € 5 billion by 2016. High-protein bars continue to be a stand-out performer, accounting for 41% of all bar launches in 2011.

Ingredia will be exhibiting their Prodiet bar 30 ingredient and Be Fit at Health Ingredients Europe from 13-15 November Messe Frankfurt in Germany.
