sugarAmerican Key Food Products (AKFP) has introduced Suchero brand organic coconut palm sugar to the North American market. As an exclusive distributor, AKFP now offers this all-natural, low Glycemic Index sugar for specialty baked goods, energy bars, beverages and other applications.

“This premium coconut palm sugar is an excellent alternative for those seeking healthier sweetener choices,” says Mel Festejo, AKFP’s chief operating officer. “It is especially well-suited to today’s consumers who are looking for high quality, all natural, organic whole foods. “Because it’s made from the sap of the coconut palm, it has an unusually high level of nutrients, which are retained through gentle, non-chemical processing,” he adds. “It has an appealing light brown color and mild, nutty, sweet taste, and is great for diabetics, so we expect product developers and consumers to embrace this as a better, healthier sweetener alternative.” The sugar content is primarily sucrose (78% to 89%) and it has been proven to have a Glycemic Index of 35.

This classifies it as a low G.I. food. It is certified organic, GMO-free, Kosher and Halal, and contains 16 amino acids, as well as many vitamins and minerals. Produced in a modern, HACCP-compliant facility, it is exceptionally consistent in quality and functionality, officials say. AKFP offers Suchero brand organic coconut sugar in a variety of bulk containers.
