US-based restaurant chain Papa John’s International is planning to open between 120 and 135 overseas outlets in 2013.

The company's plan for overseas market is slightly higher than the 110-125 store opening that the chain expects to open in North America, reported Business First of Louisville.

Last year alone, Papa John's opened 137 overseas stores. At present, Papa John's has 976 stores in 35 counties, including 216 in the UK and 179 in China.

Headquartered in Jeffersontown, Kentucky, Papa John's opeartes more than 4,000 stores, including over 2,600 in the US and the remaining outlets spread among 32 other countries.

With its international expansion plan, Papa John's joins other major US-based restaurant companies that are expanding their presence in international markets.
