Tata Starbucks, a 50/50 joint venture between Starbucks Coffee and Tata Global Beverages, has unveiled its first outlet in the Indian city of Gurgaon, as part of its strategy to open 50 stores across the country by the end of 2013.

Under the planned expansion, the coffee chain is looking to invest INR4bn ($67m).

The new Gurgaon Sturbucks is located in the city's Ambience Mall.

With the latest outlet, the total number of stores operating under Tata Starbucks in the Delhi NCR region reaches to eight.

Tata Starbucks CEO Avani Davda was quoted by PTI as saying that the company is committed to offering a third place to customers at convenient locations.

American coffeehouse chain Starbucks entered India in October 2012. Currently, the company operates 17 outlets across the country.

All Starbucks outlets in India are branded Starbucks 'A Tata Alliance'.

Apart from the chain's signature products, Starbucks India serves localized menu for Indian palates. The coffee chain, through an agreement with India-based Tata Coffee, offers 100% locally sourced and roasted coffee to its guests.
