A Texas-based repacking and reprocessing operation has earned Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification, according to a release from the Global Aquaculture Alliance.

North Texas Packing Inc., is based in Coppell Texas, in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and repacks product, predominantly shrimp, originating from BAP-certified farms and processing plants. On average, the company processes 60,000 pounds of raw and cooked product a day.

“The Global Aquaculture Alliance is proud to be associated with NTP, and we look forward to enhancing this relationship in the coming years” said Peter Redmond, BAP’s vice president of development. “The repacking/reprocessing operations are becoming an ever more important piece of the aquaculture supply chain. As such, certifying such an operation is key to the traceability of the product.”

The certification adds to a list of other accreditations the company has received in the past from other certification programs.

BAP is the alliance’s international certification program for farms, hatcheries, processing plants and feed mills, which offers certification based on a series of aquaculture performance standards.
