The touchless x-ray inspection system reduces product damage due to its design and the lack of lead curtains, according to Thermo Scientific.

Aaron Craig, global marketing manager, Thermo Scientific said at Pack Expo 2012 it was a new innovation for an x-ray machine not to have lead curtains.

He said it was important that the machine had no lead curtains so it wouldn’t cause product damage to items such as pies.
