White cabbage prices have been decreasing in Crimea and the Ukraine, according to Fruit-Inform daily price monitoring.

Prices have fallen by 10-15% over the past weekend and now vary between RUB 18-30/kg (USD 0.25-0.41/kg) at Krymskiy Privoz Wholesale Market, Simferopol. They often reached RUB 35/kg (USD 0.48/kg) at the end of the previous week.

Analysts connect the fall in prices with an increase in white cabbage supply in the Crimean market: local growers have already started harvesting middle-late and late varieties. In addition, Ukrainian produce accounts for the largest share in white cabbage sales, and it has also become less expensive in Crimea.

At the same time, despite a fall, white cabbage prices are still 4.2 times as high as registered in the same period of the previous season.
