Dried fruit exports from the Southeast have increased. In the January to October period, 152 million dollars of dried fruit exports were realized; Italy, the USA and Germany were the biggest buyers of dried fruits.

Southeast Anatolia Exporters Union (GAİB) Chairman Abdulkadir Cikmaz, explains that dried fruits were sent to many countries worldwide, but particularly to the European Union.

Cikmaz made a written statement in which he explained that, compared to the 1-19 October period last year, this year has seen a 61.9% increase; $18,121,000 worth of exports were made.

From the January to October period, in comparison with the same period last year, Cikmaz emphasizes a 7.3% increase in exports, $152,886,000 worth of dried fruit exports were realized.

Concerning the content of the exports, Cikmaz gave the following information:

“In the January to October period most exports were composed of pistachios, followed by pine nuts, dried apricots, seedless raisins, dried figs and apricot kernels. The most exports were realized to the EU.”

When looking at countries on the basis of how much dried fruit they receive, Italy, the US and Germany lead, followed by Iraq, Iran, Spain, Algeria and France.
