Apples accounted for the share of 35% in the Ukrainian fruit market in 2015.

According to the market experts, fresh apple sales totaled 440,000-450,000 tons in July 2014 – June 2015, while the cumulative fresh fruit market was estimated at 1.35-1.4 mln tons in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian fresh apple market volume was almost 45% higher than the market volume of fresh bananas, the main competitor of apples in Ukrainians' fruit consumption. In addition, sales of mandarins and oranges took just a half and a fourth of apple sales in the past season.

Pears account for the second largest market volume among domestically grown fruit in Ukraine, but their sales took just a sixth of apple ones in 2014/15.
