All state potato organizations have received the information and materials to begin the process of seeking and nominating interested growers.

USPB Board member Ken Burback explains, "If they are a person who is interested in the potato industry and helping promote that industry — that is the main reason people join. Is that they are interested, they want to try to help and want to try and improve the industry, try to improve the public’s perception of potatoes; try to improve the consumption of potatoes and potato products — any of those reasons. If they are interested, why it is very interesting. I have learned a lot in my time on the board. You meet a lot of wonderful people from all across the United States. I’m sure that a lot of organizations will say that our group is the best in the world. Well, I say the same thing — potato people are pretty cool people.”

The condition to become a member of the USPB is to grow a minimum of five acres of potatoes.
