Only one third of Ukrainian exporters benefited from the autonomous trade preferences which were granted to Ukraine by the European Union.

As a EvroPravdy correspondent reports, this is according to a study conducted by the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting based on a business survey.

The authors of the study point out that none of the surveyed companies evaluated the effect of the autonomous preferences negatively. The assessments ranged from positive to neutral.

In 2014 the quantity of Ukrainian companies exporting to the EU, as a whole increased: 5,302 entered the EU market, 2,299 left it. 3,814, or 42 % of those exporting to the EU in 2013, continued to export in 2014. However, the majority of them (55 %) reduced the volume of supplies to the EU.

The institute noted that, according to their preliminary estimates, the effect of autonomous trade preferences should ensure the growth of Ukrainian exports to the EU by 4.5 % per year. The agricultural, food and light industry, are set to profit most of all.

However the action of negative factors - the occupation of the Crimea and military operations in the Donbass region have not allowed these plans to be realized .

Autonomous EU preferences were introduced in April last year and were then extended to January 1, 2016.
