The Region of Murcia has the first diesel-free refrigerated trailer in Spain, after the Disfrimur company recently incorporated this vehicle into its fleet. The vehicle, which is used to transport goods, has a tractor unit powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and a piece of electrical cold equipment.

The new truck was presented in a ceremony by the general director of Disfrimur, Juan Sanchez. The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Jose Ramon Diez de Revenga, who attended the presentation, highlighted the commitment of the Murcian company to the ecological transition of transport incorporating a vehicle for transporting goods with totally clean energy to its fleet.

“This new vehicle will help us achieve the reduction of the carbon footprint that the European authorities desire. It saves up to 7,440 of diesel per year, achieves a reduction of 20,302 kilograms in CO₂ emissions per year, and it also reduces noise pollution by 12% compared to diesel vehicles,” he stated.

“This kind of investment proves that transport is committed to sustainability and the conservation of the environment. It also proves that the future of the sector involves expanding the supply of vehicles that substitute traditional fuels with other energy sources that promote decarbonization of the economy and the reduction of greenhouse effect emissions, as promoted by the Regional Executive.”

He acknowledged the successful step taken by Disfrimur in its commitment to sustainability and said it was a very profitable investment to guarantee the future of the sector.
