In 2015, Spain was the country that obtained the highest revenue from the export of watermelons, with a total of 298.81 million Euro. The value of the world's total exports reached 1,204.45 million Euro.

 
The data has been supplied by the Statistics Division of the United Nations (UN), COMTRADE, under code 080711 (fresh watermelon) of the Tariff Integrated of the European Communities - TARIC.

 
Volume
The total volume exported by all countries in the world in 2015 reached 3113.21 million kilos, of which 710.87 correspond to Mexico, the global leader in terms of volume, 654.59 to Spain and 220.34 million kilos to the United States of America. Mexico and Spain alone exported 43.86 percent of the world's total volume in 2015.
Spain is gaining ground on the Netherlands, as in 2015 Spanish exports surpassed the Dutch by 67.28 percent, compared to 28.74 percent in 2014.

 
Vietnam ranks fourth, with 188.69 million kilos, followed by Italy, with 171.98 million; Greece, with 168.7; Guatemala, with 100.6; the Netherlands, with 70.68, and Hungary and Morocco, with 65.69 and 64.55 million kilos, respectively.

 
Revenue
The second most important country in terms of revenue was Mexico, with 285.5 million Euro. The US follows in third place, with 113.3 million Euro. Italy is in fourth place, with 62.98; followed by the Netherlands, with 54.79; Greece, with 43.82; Morocco, with 38.92; Vietnam, with 33.66; Brazil, with 24.38, and China, which ranked tenth with revenue totalling 22.44 million kilos.

 
Prices
Of the five largest exporters, the best price was obtained by the US, with 0.514 Euro per kilo, followed by Spain, with an average price of 0.456 Euro/kilo; Mexico, which sold them for 0.402 Euro/kilo; Italy, with 0.366 and Vietnam, with 0.3178 Euro per kilo on average during 2015.

 
Destinations
99.98 percent of all Mexican exports went to the US market.

 
Spain shipped 280.08 million kilos of watermelons to Germany, 109.38 million kilos to France, 50.12 to the Netherlands, 46.74 to the UK and 30.15 million kilos to Portugal.

 
As for US exports, 99.35 percent of its watermelons went to Canada, as it received 218.91 million kilos of the 220.34 million exported.

 
Moroccan watermelons were exported mainly to Spain, which received 13.04 million kilos, followed by France, with 8.79 million, and the UK, in third place after importing 5.98 million kilos of watermelons.
