The Norwegian firm put the revenue growth down to increased sales in both food and feed for the Antarctic, omega-3 source and said it was assessing its expansion options.

For food uses, the company said sales of 74 tonnes for the quarter were its highest yet with,
“a significant proportion sold to customers in the Asia/Pacific region.”

EBITDA profits came in slightly higher at NOK26m (€3.56m), compared to NOK24m (€3.29m) in Q2 2011.

“2011 Superba sales grew by 31% and 2012 growth is expected to be 45%,”
Aker said.

“ The company expects this trend to continue, and hence Aker BioMarine is considering further capacity increases; either through increased capacity with contractual production manufacturers, or by building an own production facility plant with capacity of at least 1 000 metric tons.”

“Further information on possible investments and financing options will be provided to the market when a final decision is made.”
