A destination known for its great music Turquoise Cottage at Vasant Vihar serves sumptuous food too. It recently introduced its new menu which brings the orient alive. There are some interesting additions from across the Asian continent. TC’s, as it is called by youngsters, is a nice place to hangout with friends and enjoy live music along with food.

New menu has a wide range of starters which goes well with the drinks. I wanted to try most of the delicacies that Chef recommended me in the mixed non-vegetarian platter, which is extensive and overwhelming. Chicken Malha, diced chicken cooked with dry red chilies and crushed pepper corn oil, has tender chunks of well seasoned chicken. Caramalised prawns in Sichuan pepper are spicy and juicy. Honey glazed lamb is crispy and mouth watering. BBQ chicken wings dipped in some spicy sauce are finger licking and tasty. Its vegetarian counterpart is impressive too. Fried lotus stem is crispy to its core. Glazed in honey and chillies, it gives authentic oriental flavour.

Yum Woon Sen is a nice refreshing cold salad having Thai style chicken mixed in glass noodles. Being a grilled food lover, I satisfy myself with the grilled chicken in tamarind, chilli and hoisin sauce. It has a subtle tangy flavour which stayed with me. Any fish lover should try the grilled basa marinated with exotic Thai herbs and chef special sauce.

Moving on to the main course I tried the shredded lamb in hot garlic sauce and diced chicken kungpao. Both the delicacies had spices which suit the north Indian palate. The Burmese chicken curry has a coconut base somewhat similar to masaman curry. Turquoise Cottage also has good variations of noodles and rice. I tried the pad Thai kai, flat noodles not like the chowmein noodles I have grown up eating. Pad Thai noodles had diced pieces of chicken marinated in some oriental sauce which give a nice flavour to the dish. Having good juicy chunks of prawns, mixed sea food fried rice is tasty too. But the USP of the menu is its desserts. Chocolate filled cigars served on top of sweet crispy noodles are a delight to have. The oozing chocolate from the sweet chocolate cigar is simply finger licking. The deep fried wantons stuffed with white chocolate are also delicious.
