In a statement released by the company, it has blamed volatile commodity prices, competitive pricing issues and the loss of a major account for the closure.

The company has engaged several advisors to help it formulate a recovery plan which includes bringing in investors or the sale of the plant. Brooks Food Group noted that it is working with the state to provide assistance for those affected.

The company's 90,000ft ² Bedford facility processes battered frozen specialty products, including vegetables, fruits, cheese and bread items.
