American foods company Cuisine Solutions has opened its new $30m food facility in Sterling, Virginia, US, as part of its plan to cater to the growing demand for its sous-vide cuisine.

The 56,500ft² plant will expand the company's capacity to produce customised, gourmet menu items for fast-casual and restaurant chains, hotels, airlines, retailers and consumers.

The facility will use the 'sous-vide' cooking method, which was pioneered by the company.

A majority of the equipment in the Sterling plant has been custom-designed by Cuisine Solutions, based on the expertise of its team of chefs and culinary scientists.

Cuisine Solutions president Felipe Hasselmann said that the new facility enhances the company's ability to work with its customers, partners and retailers to deliver the natural flavours, finest ingredients and consistent quality they have come to expect from the company.

The new plant is Cuisine Solutions' fourth production facility and, once fully operational, will add nearly 80 jobs.

The company's other production facilities are located in Alexandria, Virginia, and Louviers and Le Petre, France.

Cuisine Solutions is a provider of prepared sous-vide gourmet entrées, sauces and other menu items for fast-casual and restaurant chains, hotels, airlines, retailers and other food service providers across the globe.

The features of the sous-vide cooking technique include sealing in moisture, enhancing the natural flavours and providing consistent quality.

The company prepares all its dishes from animal proteins, vegetables and spices, including grass-fed, free-range, all-natural beef and lamb, sustainably harvested wild salmon, all-natural, antibiotic-free turkey, and organic pimento peppers, among others.

Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, Cuisine Solutions employs over 450 people worldwide.
