In what it is dubbing “the greatest day in chicken history,” KFC, a subsidiary of Yum! Brands, Inc., plans to roll out deep-fried boneless chicken pieces on April 14.

Available in both white and dark meat, the pieces are larger than the chain’s crispy strips and seasoned with the KFC’s signature Original Recipe herbs and spices. The item will be offered in an individual combo meal or as part of a bucket. The boneless chicken also will replace the filets used in the chain’s sandwiches.

The product, which has been in development for two to three years, was tested in select markets last year.
