Back in September 2015, the Uzbekistan government tasked agricultural exporters with transporting fruits, potatoes, melons and grapes by railway and air transport only. They later permitted motor vehicles, on a list approved by a special working group, to export fruit and vegetables to Jan.1 of 2016. This has now been extended till July 1 of 2016.According to a government decree published in local media outlets, Uzbekistan will permit the export of these products by vehicles owned by legal entities and individuals who have a license to carry out international cargo transportation from July 1, 2016.
Fruit and vegetable production in Uzbekistan increased by 6.7 percent in 2015 and stood at 12.6 million tons, melons - 5.9 percent (1.8 million tons), grapes - 11.4 percent (1.56 million tons).
Around 500,000-700,000 tons of this volume is exported.
