In order to kick-start cash crop exports, a group of counties which are part of the the North Rift Economic Bloc (Noreb) caucus are fast-tracking plans to secure their places in the East African Community (EAC).

Noreb Chairman Jackson Mandago, said the caucus is finalising measures which will involve improving the horticulture sector in a bid that will see an increase in exports to Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and other regional countries.

"Uasin Gishu is picking up very fast in the production of passion fruits, mangoes and avocados which we are especially looking at not only delivering to the regional market, but also the European market," he said.

Member counties of the Noreb are Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Samburu and Turkana.
