Dried Shitake Mushroom Slices Recalled

A sample of the product tested by the Food and Drug Administration was found to be contaminated with fluoranthene, pyrene and carbendazim.
(Carbendazim is the fungicide recently detected in low levels in some orange juice products that promptedincreased FDA scrutiny of imported juices. Carbendazim is approved for use in some countries but not the U.S., where it is an unlawful pesticide residue under the federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.)
The recalled Shitake-Ya brand mushrooms are packaged in 6 oz. plastic jars labeled "Shiitake-Ya brand Gourmet Shiitake Slices - dried shiitake mushrooms" and have a sell-by date of April 16, 2013. (The sell-by sticker is affixed to the bottom portion of the back label).
