summary:Pall Corporation has announced that its GeneDisc assays for listeria have received Performance Tested Methods (PTM Certification from the AOAC Research Institute....

The company's GeneDisc assays which received AOAC-PTM certification include Listeria spp and Listeria monocytogenes, as well as the combined assay, Listeria DUO.

According to the company, Pall's Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)-based GeneDisc technology allows multiparametric assays for food-borne pathogen detection. The system and test procedure provides consistently repeatable results and virtually eliminates operator error.

In addition, the GeneDisc Listeria identification plate - a unique real time PCR test, allows food safety laboratories to have Listeria species identification within one hour, compared to 24 hours required by routine biochemical tests.

Pall Food and Beverage president Jonathan Pratt said these listeria certifications represent a major step forward for our food industry partners who can enhance their routine testing for food-borne pathogens.

"There is a clear need for fast and reliable assays in food-borne pathogen monitoring. Pall continues to work hard to deliver on these expectations." Pratt added.

Pall Food and Beverage is a leading provider of filtration, separation and quality assurance solutions for the food and beverage market.

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness, which can lead to high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.
