Canada Bread is voluntarily conducting a Class 3 recall on Dempster’s / Bon Matin Tortillas as they may contain metal shavings.

The affected products are Dempster’s / Bon Matin with Best Before dates beginning October 15, 2012 up to and including November 15, 2012 produced on Line 2 at our facility in Etobicoke, Ontario.  No other products are affected by this alert.

We are recalling the product as a precautionary measure.  There have been no reports of illness related to the consumption of the recalled product.  The products were sold in Ontario, Quebec and Atlantic Canada through various retailers and foodservice partners.

We have taken quick and sweeping actions to eliminate further occurrences.  These include:

  •  Conducting a voluntary recall (Class 3).  
  •  Halted production on the tortilla lines in the impacted facility and resolved the issue immediately.   
  • Reviewed Good Manufacturing Practices with all our employees at dedicated meetings.
