On June 26, 2012, India reported its first outbreak of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome on a swine farm in Aizawal district of the Mizoram state. This is the first time that porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome has been identified in the history of India though the source of outbreak is unknown.
In response to the outbreak, various control measures have been taken which includes:
Quarantine
Movement control inside the country
Screening
Disinfection of infected premises/establishment(s), and
Treatment of affected animals
