Ghana's mushroom industry is facing many challenges which are deterring farmers and hampering the growth of the sector. These challenges include;

poor infrastructure, limited input availability, lack of funds and technical know-how. Subsequently the pace of harvesting and processing is slowed down, which means that farmers look to other ventures.

In a bid to improve the situation, an NGO, ACDI/VOCA in collaboration with the Mushroom for well-being foundation is offering free support to mushroom farmers in the country.

The support is 80 percent training based, with farmers receiving practical training from experts on best practices and value addition.

First to benefit from the initiative is a section of mushroom farmers based in the Brong Ahafo region.
